Tune in to a special two-hour live NASA Television broadcast at 1 p.m. This week, you can also watch us salute our Apollo 50th heroes and l ook forward to our next giant leap for future missions to the Moon and Mars. Neil Armstrong’s spacesuit from the historic Apollo 11 Moon landing is on display for the first time in 13 years in its new display case in the Wright Brothers & the Invention of the Aerial Age Gallery of the National Air and Space Museum. Now, just in time for the 50th anniversary of the Moon landing, you can experience the boots that stepped in Moon dust and the visor that saw the moonscape up close. He peered through the gold coating of his visor and looked out across the surface of the Moon, an entirely different landscape than he was used to. My work is featured in both corporate and private collections throughout the U.S.As Neil Armstrong became the first human to step foot onto another world on July 20, 1969, lunar dust collected on the boots of his spacesuit. I also design products, one recently featured in the New York Times, is a cinematography device for smart phones, a beautiful, highly functional piece of gear used by filmmakers and institutions throughout the U.S. As creative director of my own agency, I designed campaigns for Warner Bros., Disney and Kawasaki, among others. The common thread throughout my career is art. Descended from a family of lawyers, I'm the self described “black sheep” who always knew I wanted to create compelling things. I paint, deconstruct, and repaint, cycling through the process over and over until the painting displays a balance between perfection and deconstruction, revealing a depth of layers, hidden textures, and the unique rich hues and luminosity of polished metal. I work my paintings up to a fully-realized composition before beginning to scrape, grind, sand and buff away layers using a “reductive” technique.

REDUCTIVE OIL PAINTINGS ON THIN SHEET METAL PANELS AND/OR TRADITIONAL CANVAS - My paintings contrast serene landscapes with edgy, textured bits of metal peeking through, creating the glimmer of the sun on the surface of a stream or pond, adding to the luminosity of a cloud or sky and bringing energy and balance to each composition.
